On the evening of February 25th, 2023, at The Freud Museum, we launched FREEPSY, a five-year interdisciplinary research project based at the University of Essex, in the company of around 60 guests in person, and 50 guests online, joining us from all over the world.
The event brought together psychoanalysts, scholars and students, supervisors and trainees, those working in the NHS, the Third Sector, and in autonomous psychoanalytic free clinics collectives.
The evening included talks by the FREEPSY team, Raluca Soreanu, Ana Carolina Minozzo, Ana Tomcic, Lizaveta van Munsteren, Ivan Ward and Juliana Pusztai; a talk by our guest Kwame Yonatan (titled ‘’Margining’ the Clinic: The Clinical Terreiro’), part the collective Margens ClÃnicas in Brazil, a close ally of FREEPSY; the launch of the special issue on free clinics, volume 24(3), in Psychoanalysis & History (free to download), with a commentary by Christopher Chamberlin, and short interventions by Joanna Ryan, Matt ffytche, and Lisa Baraitser.
